Privacy
To reopen your work, Lifeboat has to look at your windows, documents, tabs and clipboard. It has no account and no tracking, and it doesn't upload anything it sees. This page lists what it reads, what it keeps on your Mac, the two things it sends over the internet, and what this website collects.
What Lifeboat reads
- The battery: its level, time left, health, cycle count, temperature and the adapter, to show them and to know when to act.
- Your open apps and their windows: titles, sizes, places and the documents they show, through Accessibility, so it can put them back.
- Browser tabs, Finder windows and Terminal folders, through Automation, which macOS asks you to allow once per app. Incognito windows in Chrome, Brave, Edge, Arc and Vivaldi are skipped.
- The clipboard, so it can offer it back. Very large clipboards are skipped.
Lifeboat changes something only to do its job: it saves documents through each app's own save, and only in apps it lists as Lifeboat saves it. If you allow it, it turns on Low Power Mode and dims the display at 10%, and Safe Landing hibernates the Mac. Each change is undone when you plug in or wake the Mac.
What stays on your Mac
- Snapshots of your workspace, in your Library folder. Lifeboat keeps the last 30, and every one from the last 48 hours.
- Untitled documents it rescued, in Documents > Lifeboat Rescued, where you can open, move or delete them.
- Your settings, and your license key in your keychain.
What goes online
- License checks, to Dodo Payments, our merchant of record: your license key and a name for this Mac, so one key can count its 3 Macs. At most once a day.
- Update checks, to everydaymactools.com: Lifeboat asks for the list of versions, at most once a day. Updates download only from everydaymactools.com and are checked against our signature before they're opened.
Nothing about your documents, windows, tabs or clipboard is ever sent. Buying opens the checkout in your browser.
This website
This site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies, to count visits and see which pages people read. It knows nothing about your Mac, and Lifeboat itself doesn't use it. The working Mac at the top of the home page is a model that runs in your browser and sends nothing.
Checkout happens on Dodo Payments, who handle your payment details under their own privacy policy. We receive your email address and the order, so we can send your key and help if something goes wrong.
